From what I can gather, Cade wanted to keep it as quiet as possible and uga and kirby wasn't having it. Just seems petty.
Sounds like he enrolled and forced Georgia to put him in the portal Which, whether intentional or not, is a hilarious "[uck fay] You" to Kirby
The player has to enter him/herself into the portal. The school/coach cannot put a player into the transfer portal. I believe the only way he can transfer is to enter the portal. He may have wanted to keep it low key and UGA wasnt having that, but the only way to transfer is through the portal.
Exactly. He did want to already be enrolled when the news hit, though. It would have been damn near impossible to make it work out that way
You've got people claiming Kirby is a petty jackass to transfers and Pruitt writes handwritten letters to the ncaa as to why Tennessee guys should be eligible at their new schools
I decided to go back to their vaunted #1 2018 class and see how many of those players are gone, in portal or haven't done much at all. Used 247 composite rankings, high 4* is 96+, mid 4* is 93-96.9, low 4* is 90-92.9) Justin Fields 5* QB - transferred to OSU Zamir White 5* RB - 3rd in depth chart, will likely have starting role with Swift/Herrian gone Jamaree Salyer 5* OG - backup, didn't start any games but played in 14 Tyson Campbell 5* CB - got injured, only racked up 15 tackles in soph year Adam Anderson 5* LB - 3rd in depth chart, 6 tackles this year Cade Mays 5* OT - transferred to V,B Brenton Cox 5* DE - transferred to Florida Quay Walker high 4* LB - depth fodder, 23 tackles this year James Cook high 4* RB - depth fodder, will share carries with White Luke Ford high 4* TE - transferred to Illinois Trey Hill mid 4* OL - STARTING C all 2019, only returning starter on OL Otis Reese mid 4* LB - depth fodder, in portal Channing Tindall mid 4* LB - depth fodder, 9 tackles this year Kearis Jackson mid 4* WR - Redshirted, 73 total yards receiving this year Azeez Ojulari mid 4* DE - STARTING DE, 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks Tommy Bush low 4* WR - Redshirted, 1 total yards receiving this year Divaad Wilson low 4* CB - depth fodder, 14 tackles this year Warren Ericson low 4* OL - played in 6 games So there you have it. #1 class in the land, lost 5 high ranked recruits to transfer and only have 2 bona fide starters returning for what should be the core of their upperclassman campaign. Of all the transfers, losing Fields hurts the worst because going into 2020, UGA has at QB: * barely-4* QB D'Wan Mathis that might not even be cleared to ever play again due to a brain cyst * JUCO 3* * low-4* true Freshman * bunch of walk-ons
NOTE: Reese, LB in portal, was recruited heavy by Pruitt/Ansley when they were at Bama in that 2018 class. Would be interesting if UGA lost 3/5 transfers in the best class in school history to division rivals.
Stuff like this makes me root even harder for Pruitt. He genuinely seems to care for these guys, and that might be the HS coach coming out in him.
