Coach Majors death has me thinking - If Chuck Webb doesn't get hurt does that team win the national title? I say yes.
Yes. Webb was that good. I will say this to the day I die, the best Vol to ever play that I have seen personally, with Manning a very, very close second. I cannot speak for Atkins, Majors, etc, but Webb was on his own level. And Webb easily wins a Heisman while here.
Webb runs for 2500 if he doesn't go down. Also, what if Todd Collins doesn't transfer following'90 spring practice?
Webb was before my time, but I feel similarly about Jamal Lewis. 3 years of a healthy Jamal Lewis behind the O lines we had in the late 90s? My god.
Man, that was as deadly of an offense as you could have at that time. If only he gets out there at the start of the season.
I remember watching Jamal as a kid and thinking he could score every time he gets the ball. Hand it off every time!
CobbWebb was something else. I was at UT while they were there. No cell phones much less camera phones. Just pagers. Strip was packed on both sides. Greatest of times.
We also couldnt afford let a freshman play and not block chip Alex Brown for 4 quarters Needed to have experience in there to not chip him
The 1990 o-line made Tony Thompson look like a stud--he was not a stud. Would fit in good with current group of backs we have. Imagine what they would have done for Webb.
