MUS athlete gets 3rd highest decathalon score in history. Good kid, headed to Stanford in the fall. Vote for him here: http://usa.milesplit.com/articles/1...boys-performer-from-4-12-weekend#.U06l4PldV-4
He didn't win the vote. He did win the state championship. http://tssaa.org/2014-division-ii-decathlon-results/
Nice. That George Patrick guy wasn't too far behind and is only a sophomore. He might end up breaking Harrison's record before he graduates. My sister is jumping and running today and tomorrow I believe.
Harrison got over 7500 to set his record, so I dount the Patrick kid will approach that mark as it is utterly insane to get that high in the decathlon. Also, speaking as a track coach in middle TN, I've seen Vic Wharton run and we are getting a kid with some serious wheels.
Ah, I didn't remember his actual record. That is absurd. Still, 6800 for a sophomore is pretty amazing. Where do you coach?
I saw him run at The Great 8 at Vandy and he blew away the field there. He's faster than Gaulden, who was no slouch himself when I saw him run the 400. Wharton isn't as fast as Jalen Ramsey, an absolute stud for Brentwood Academy, but he's definitely up there. Oh, to add this, I think Malone is even faster than Wharton. Josh was step for step with Ramsey when I saw him last year.
