Has sports lost something now that it is completely 24/7 commercialized? Those old Raiders teams were the perfect Heels to the NFL. Is there anything like that in sports anymore?
One of the few to win both NC and SB. RIP Having watched some old films (thank you NFL Films). Hard not to pull for the Raiders (just before and during J Madden's era) of old. Yep. Had some good talent around him too. Mark Van Egan (sp?), "Ghost" Dave Casper, Fred Biletnikoff (sp?), the streak Cliff Branch, among others
They traded Stabler to Houston in 1980 straight up for Dan Pastorini the season the Raiders won the Super Bowl. Pastorini broke his leg, and Plunkett subsequently won two Super Bowls. Stabler would be in the Hall of fame had he stayed with the Raiders and won those Super Bowls that Plunkett won.
