This was evidently discussed by Clint Stoerner at some point during the Orange and White game. Our first three games will be played in under two weeks. Georgia Tech, Indiana State, and Florida all goes down between 9/4 and 9/16. Evidently Stoerner made a pretty big deal about this and was going into some very early excuse making for the Vols. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal. What made my eyebrow raise was Jayson Swain this morning discussing Stoerner's comments. Evidently these guys usually come in and meet with the coaches a couple of days before the scrimmage and get updates about what's going on and basically just some talking points ideas so they have stuff to discuss during the broadcast. Swain pretty much said the 3 games in 13 days stuff was fed to the announcers by our staff. There's not really any way he could for sure know that, but pretty damning for him to openly say that on the air. I guess we aren't the only ones tired of the constant excuses.
They do meet with coaches and get talking points. I do think a lot of coaches would [itch bay] about 3 games in 13 days
If Indiana State is a problem, we just need to do away with the football program, raze Neyland, and build more parking garages and dorms.
We play 3 games in 14 days all the time. 1st Sat : game day 1 2nd Sat: game day 7 3rd Sat : game day 14
Indiana State offered football scholarship money to half of my high school team back when I was in school. lol We had one guy go on to play D1 football, and it was at Vandy.
If the schedule was Bama/Florida/LSU for 3 games in 13 days I'd have a tad bit more sympathy. If the reserves aren't playing against the Sycamores early in the 3rd, we've got a problem.
This is the schedule pattern that saw VT lose to James Madison. That said, it's still Indiana State. There's a reason that spot was used for an FCS patsy and not somebody with a pulse like App or Bowling Green.
