This is a pretty solid assessment imo.

Very solid. Makes me wonder which program he is talking about that is paying players, though.

Duke comes to mind on how Wolken describes it. An elite program that everyone thinks is on the up and up.

    Or Carolina?

    Definitely another possibility.

It makes me think Carolina, Duke or Kansas. Just going by the "program you wouldn't ever guess" part. Good to see you here lawvol

    Kansas is my guess.

I think he nails the NCAA's approach to Memphis. They think they got Al Capone on tax evasion, and maybe that was all they could do.

It is hard for me to picture Kansas (or Kentucky) fitting the "everybody thinks they are clean" part of his description. They are among the most penalized athletic programs in the history of the NCAA with long, dirty trails to justify why.

Just look to who is going where of Memphis players recently. That's probably a good place to start. And I seem to remember a couple going to Duke.

I think Wolken jacked that last paragraph from hat.

Lets just say that Wolken is still connected to a former coach on the western end of the state

A whole bunch of people in college basketball think Texas is the dirtiest program in the game, yet everyone acts like Rick Barnes is Joel Osteen.

I must admit, it was nice to see someone else telling the truth about Bruce Pearl.

and that's my guess. I don't have any doubt that he's talking about TX.

This would fit. I've always had a soft spot for Barnes due to his taking a flyer on Buckner, but without knowing any real solid dirt, the program smells fishy.

I'm not sure Barnes drives the train. From what I hear, it's a booster driven affair.

It is pretty difficult to dispute any of this.

I thought they closed the Chicken Ranch. Reopened for basket ballers?
