if there is a demand, it will become more lucrative until someone starts supplying it. success is not being capped.
It is if you decide that beyond a certain point we're taking 3/4s. This will be justified by pictures of rich kids in yachts spending excessively on closets bigger than your house full of Louis Vuitton, all of whom have essentially zero income and are living off of generational wealth and will be unaffected. The same 1% rallying cry will be used when 14 million is dropped to 10 million, to make up for the fact that the last bump raised $X in tax funds and we spend $2*X on account of it. Beyond the government having no business taking something at over 50%, it's a bad road to go down since we have no handle on spending or even much thought as to curtailing the expansion of the budget.
what is a fraction of infinity? you are presenting a slippery slope. there is no slope. if this became undesirable it would go away just as easily as it sprung up. just as easily as the massive tax cut to the wealthy it would replace was replaced. we would keep cutting taxes lower and lower and dissolve the nation state. we won't because there is no constant pull to do so, just like there isn't a pull to 100% taxes for all.
Have you seen some things that have been proposed recently? Roughly 237 jiggillion for walls and green deals? There's going to be plenty of pull. And when the bill comes due do you think average joe who in 2019 is livid that his refund check is lower than last year isn't going to be happy to stick it to the millionaires?
I see plenty of avg Joe's who view themselves as temporarily inconvenienced multimillionaires. it isn't about sticking it to anyone, really. at least not to me. and I am not necessarily advocating for the gnd, as it is more of a concept right now. I just don't see how it is the nonstarter it seems to be for many. like it's a modest proposal to eat the wealthy. it isn't.
If it would have been written better and rolled out better I definitely think it would have better received. Climate change is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.
So, did my taxes this year. Made a considerable amount less than last year. Didn't get to deduct any expenses for my work, boots, tools, education, but still managed to do better than last year. I actually got a refund this year, without having to scrounge together receipts for everything
Not at the basic level, no. I admit I was very hyperbolic about this earlier. I do still see heavy and/or progressive taxation as socialist and don't want it in any form of US policy. I don't see why the govt could need any more than anywhere from 10-20% tax from citizens for basic function. Again, this comes from my belief that the Fed should not be everything for everyone. And rocky I apologize for being an asshole yesterday. You going to Auburn is punishment enough without me piling on.
