Butch was too busy doing the important things such as figuring out who was playing Sweet Home Alabama (a shitty song BTW) at another sports complex instead of running a practice.
I remember the ‘01 spring game. That front 4 dominated the first offense so bad that Michael Brewster was the offensive MVP.
I remember RB Ja’Kouri Williams looking like he would be All-SEC. Think he ended up as the gunner on punt coverage and had maybe 2 carries.
He ran over a ref at the goal line of the south endzone covering a punt. That's the only thing I can remember him accomplishing during his time here.
I kind of wonder if a better coordinator could have gotten some production out of him. Derrick Tinsley certainly could have done more.
We had a ton of RB in the early to mid 2000s that definitely underproduced. Not sure if the issue was talent evaluation or coaching, but definitely seemed to be a problem at that particular position.
Riggs, Houston, Hardesty, Foster, Coker... Those guys were here a combined 18 seasons or so. Maybe four maybe five decent seasons came from that and two of them were in the same year (2004).
Coker couldn't keep it together off the field, that's what got him. Hardesty was getting carries over Foster in 05 then either tore his ACL or broke his ankle
Did he ever do anything more serious than smoking weed and failing drug tests? Same for Onterrio Smith?
Just looked and Davis had 22 TDs on 1228 yards. Edit: 3 away from being in the top 10 all-time at Tennessee.
