I think so too, but it is their locker room and maybe they have an insight/perspective I don't on why this is a good idea.
A smiff on fire lately. “I’d give up millions for a orange bowl ery day, even after winning belitnikoff and unanimous AA and watching Ced and Hen go down. And I’d tell my teammates the no stepping on the T is dumb.”
It is dumb and arbitrary, but that is what makes it important, imho. Most traditions are dumb and arbitrary, but traditions are important, and this one replaces the typical hazing that goes on in camps like this, and that is a good thing.
Absolute fire response of "I guess my focus is more on respecting the lower case t that is the cross that my lord and savior Jesus Christ died for my sins on" is available, if you want to dunk on these donkeys.
That's the point. My daughter graduated from the USNA, this is nothing compared to the arbitrary BS they have to endure. It's a form of team building, instills some humility and discipline.
Look at it as an awareness exercise instead of an annoyance. I would guess JG probably had to do his share of pushups. Come to think of it, we ever seen A-Smith and Guarantano in the same room?
I favor traditions over anything else. And his up push’s were lame. Cut him PS: too many lame guys want to ditch tradition for being emotionally supportive. Bunch of Kumbaya’ers
I also like tradition. My issue with it has nothing to do with what you’re talking about. If there was a tradition where the freshmen had to swim the Tennessee River in February I’d be fine with it. Butch Jones tried to start a number of traditions. Wouldnt surprise me if he originated this one. I highly doubt Majors or Fulmer came up with that nonsense.
