Well to be fair in this specific case, we talked about nvidia on this forum and it has been a known high upside stock for almost a year.

They shouldn't be able to hold stocks. It's the only way.

 

I have no problem with them holding any single stock they held when they entered office. But they cannot buy or sell anything else until they are gone. Add futures and shorting to that list too.

 

Greed, ego and power. Shocked.

 

Just the type of people that are attracted to those jobs. Same reason there are so many nerds in computer jobs. Or assholes in the accounting arena.

Maximus was going home till Commidus killed his father. He wanted nothing to do with it and wasn't going to take it unless it was shoved on him by Marcus Arellius. Commodus reached out and TOOK the power, and those are the people in a Democracy that are going to get into power. You cannot shove power onto someone in a democracy.

We can wish it to be different, but it will never be different. We just need rules and regulations in place to keep these kinds of people in check.

 

Maximus didn’t want it, which is why Marcus said that’s why he must take it. His son wanted to power and would be a terrible leader. That was my point. We elect the Commidus because they spent their lives wanting the power and are our only options. Things wouldn’t be so shitty if we had people in place who didn’t want the power, which is impossible really.
