I get what you're saying here & even agree that unhealthy lifestyles drive up healthcare costs for everyone. However, we were solely discussing unvaccinated COVID patients flooding hospital beds forcing entire states & hospital systems to implement crisis care protocols for everyone no matter the reason of their need for care. The unhealthy lifestyle folks have never caused that.

 

If you believe something will not happen, then you believe it cannot happen, it is that simple.

And that is what the unvaccinated have convinced themselves of, that it will not and cannot happen to them.

People who accept that something can happen take precautions.

I'll give you a common example, that you might have heard.

Motorcycle riders believe it is not "if" they will lay down their motorcycle, but "when."

Have you heard this before? Same concept. Those who truly evaluate risk do so based on a "when" concept, not an "if" concept.

You are clearly an "if" person, not a "when."

Governors banning local health measures was always so, so dumb and antithetical to the values many claim they have.

Retrospective study with nearly identical co-morbidities between the selected groups screams "not a great study." That's probably why it isn't peer-reviewed. This looks like the same one you have brought up before.

Of course, he may be fine either way and I realize you believe he is either already exposed or never will be. just want to point this development out, as it is very relevant to the reasoning you described your mother as having. But I am not a doctor.
