Quinten Dormady Loving Life With Tennessee Vols Football

Tennessee’s offense felt familiar, too, the quarterback continued. “It’s very similar to the one here with my dad being the head coach," Dormady said when asked what system he directed in high school. “We played to the strengths of our players. We were kind of all over the place in my career there.”

Dormady, who missed his entire junior season while recovering from a torn labrum he suffered on the baseball field as a sophomore, came back to play — and play very well — as a senior but then found himself back on the shelf. He expects to resume throwing in the near future, though, and he expects to be 100 percent cleared for the start of spring practice in March.

“They’re just real personable people,” Dormady said when asked specifically about the Tennessee coaching staff. “They’re gonna tell you how it is, and I think that works out for the best. You know where your place is. It's a real family atmosphere around here, and everyone is here to get better, and they’re gonna guide you along the way for your life after football.”

Dormady got a sneak peak of life in Knoxville just before Christmas, when he spent a week in town watching the Vols prepare for the TaxSlayer (Gator) Bowl against Iowa. Tennessee jumped on the Hawkeyes and cruised to its first bowl win since the 2007 season, which capped the Vols’ first winning season since the 2009 season. Dormady said that season-ending win was “huge” for the program going forward. “It’s just a ton of momentum going into the offseason,” Dormady said. “Guys are already working out, even though they played just over a week ago. That's good to see, and as we start workouts here as a team it’ll be fun." - Wes Rucker, 247

People really overlook Dormady's athleticism.

Personally, I think Jennings will move to S and it'll be a 2-horse race between Dormady and Jones. And that's really the best of both worlds if that happens. We get a prototype S and our QB of the future with no loss. Not to mention Kendall coming in with the 2016 bunch.

It's nice how things have been working out lately. I hope you're right and Jennings becomes a safety and one of the other guys exceeds at QB. Like getting Phillips and (hopefully) Martin without taking Ugo, things seem to be going best case scenerio with recruiting. Landing an OT would just top it all off nicely.
