If the deal with Petersen falls through, Vanderbilt coach James Franklin is ready to accept the university’s offer. It was confirmed Monday night the university has a plane out of state in North Carolina ready to fly to Nashville to pick Franklin up if Petersen says no on Tuesday, but it is clear that the Boise State coach is the No. 1 candidate right now.
Franklin has tried to pressure Arkansas into choosing him immediately, but it has become clear Petersen is the choice. Petersen the choice for new Hogs coach

Random tweet I lol'd at.

Really? So Franklin knows he's not the number 1 choice, but he's still eager to jump at the chance of being a fall-back plan? That just seems odd.

Is Chris Petersen involved in the Arkansas coaching search? | CoachingSearch.com
EDIT: Actually this article is 3 days old, so TIFWIW, which isn't much.

+1 ... all this shit will begin to take shape after all of the conference championships are over. I believe Kelly goes to the NFL and then the dominoes begin to fall.

Anyone would be a fool to take the Oregon job. zero recruiting base, now with 11 win a year expectations.

That Nike money has got to help out from the recruit standpoint.

Even the year the went to the national championship they barely managed a top 10 recruiting class. In the end, Eugene is in the middle of nowhere and recruits generally want to play close to home. There also is the looming sanctions too. Phil's money has gotten them far, but Kelly's success isn't even remotely sustainable.

What's the alternative? Staying at Vandy?
Whether he's #2 or not, I think he'd crawl from Vanderbilt to Arkansas.

Jack Arute just reported that Arkansas has given Peterson until noon Wednesday to make his decision on whether to accept the HC position of the pigs. TIFWIW ... I imagine he has his sources.

Your argument is the reason that I think Peterson would be the perfect choice for the job. Its Boise St with $$$$ and a hook (Uniforms).

he'd have to overhaul the roster unless he kept the same offense. if he starts going 8-4 or 9-3 (more oregon's real level IMO) i doubt they'll be happy. I don't think boise would run the table in the pac-12 either. Utah showed how hard that transition is.
