I was looking at UAB's schedule today, and while they haven't really played anyone, they have pretty much dominated those they have played. I hope the guys are not still flying high after last weekend and realize we have a 7-1 team rolling in here that averages over 30 points a game on offense. Any word on Taylor (DE)? Maurer? Guarantano? I am a bit nervous about this weekend.
Taylor has practiced all week JG missed one day All 3 qbs are cleared to play Bill Clark is a great coach, but I doubt Pruitt is overlooking anyone after GSU. They've got a good qb and big receivers, but they've played no one. Their schedule is weaker than a lot of FCS teams according to Sagarin rankings (something like 175th in the country) I expect Maurer to start and a lot of aggressive play calling offensively to get up quickly.
apparently UAB's coach and Pruitt have a history going back to high school coaching, so Pruitt at least won't be napping on this.
UAB opponents rank per Sportsline 130 Alabama State FCS - 3-4 overall 2-2 in SWAC Akron 130 (that's dead last) South Alabama 125 WKU 65 (their lone loss) Rice 126 UTSA 120 Old Dominion 124
Bill Clark is as highly regarded in Alabama as any coach outside of Saban. Prattville and Hoover had a great rivalry about a decade ago. Pruitt has too much respect for Clark to take his team lightly.
UAB has struggled somewhat on the road since being reinstated. All of their losses have been road games and they’ve played in an environment like Neyland. Take care of business and UT wins by 3 touchdowns
I coached Bill Clark in high school, he was my center. Great football mind, his dad was a long time head coach in HS football in Alabama.
Damn, we lose then. Anyone coached by OV has the power of 10 men and can inspire with just the raising of one eyebrow.
