He was effectively UTs papaw. And the times i met him he would try and find a common ground topic with you. And once he did, he had a story about it.
Johnny with the direct snap. Bonus: Give it a second watch and keep your eyes on the pulling LG the whole time.
Dude was 40 yards down field and made the TD saving block, even though he was always 20 yards away from #45. Nice.
I think he needs a statue on campus, and Fulmer should make it happen. Not bigger than the General or anything. Life size.
They were able to be in the same room as each other and shook hands. That is a gigantic step forward from where they were
Hell of a quote and a good article: He developed a habit of parking his car right in front of the football building, leaving it sitting on the curb right in the middle of traffic and going inside. When campus police told him he couldn't do that, he pointed at the road sign above them: Johnny Majors Boulevard. "The hell you say. This is my road. I can park wherever I want." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29262103/ryan-mcgee-how-johnny-majors-changed-life
The only piece of UT memorabilia I have that bears a personal connection is an inscribed and signed photo of Majors addressed to my mother, a state employee at the time. It will always hang prominently wherever I go.
I realize he saved Pitt football and is a legend there too but I’m about to fight people who wrote articles talking about him as Pitt coach
