I was happy my program is 4th tier

 

If Clemson is a Tier 1 job, then Tennessee is a Tier 1 job. And so are about 15 other jobs.

 

This seems to be about today rather than a whole program.

 

I think part of the valuation of a program has to be its current head coach. You take Dabo out of Clemson, it’s not nearly the program it is without him.

They’re the unusual example of the coach being as big as, or bigger than, the program itself. Same would’ve been true for South Carolina while Spurrier was there.

It gets tiresome hearing how awesome everyone is but Tennessee is just trash because no one outside Tennessee thinks they look good in orange.

 

Yeah and the ranking wasn’t even “program.” It was jobs. Ridiculous.

Tennessee has a Top 10 (top 5?) fan base. Two of the worst coaches in SEC history came through here and were recruiting better than several of the teams in “Tier 2.” Program is a Cadillac that has been driven by a bunch of drunks, swerving into every conceivable hazard.

In keeping with the thread title I’m simply trying to say that I get tired of hearing criticism of anything Tennessee .

 

Well, we did hire Butch Jones. Kinda brought that shit upon ourselves.

If ESPN wasn't a third tier program I'd be more inclined to care.

 

The UT job will always get lazily downgraded because of the lack of “in-state talent”
