Sucks that you can’t buy those sweet mittens now due to the woman closing the business due to taxes killing her on her side business.
Really reaching there. The person who loves Bernie enough to send a gift. Who cried seeing Kamala be Vice President. Who states her career is as a teacher. Reeaaaalllly reaching. She never had a business. She never closed a business. You can't get them now because she only ever made 40 pairs, 2 years ago. She commented on taxes, nothing more.
In short: "Sucks that you can’t buy those sweet mittens now" -- Misleading "due to the woman closing the business" --false "due to taxes killing her on her side business. " --assumption, as #2 is false
She never had a business. But the total tax burden in Vermont does stifle side hustles. That is a fact, and really is the context of what she is saying. This was also true in Colorado for me when I attempted to start a side hustle. It just couldn't make financial sense without scaling it up way higher than I wanted to.
That's true pretty much everywhere. There is no point in me contracting work, because I'm going to pay too much in taxes to make it worth my time. I'd rather do other things. If I wanted to turn contracting into a full time job, that'd be different. But I don't. I have a full time job.
