Is Connor McDavid still considered by the hockey world as the current best player in the NHL or has that torch been passed to someone else?

 

It's McDavid. But were I starting a team tomorrow it'd be Matt Tkachuk or Cale Makar

 

Give Florida credit for not being happy to just compete.

 

I think one of the first hockey posts on this site was emain giving the Rangers for going for it with Yandle. Similar situation

 

I know Huberdeau and Weegar are both free agents next summer, but Calgary made out pretty damn well.

 

Had to go back and look for it. I had forgotten about that trade

 

Really hate hearing about Bobby Ryan. Hopefully he gets things put back together for his wife & daughter.

 

And Calgary just signed Huberdeau to an 8-year extension.

 

Thought this was funny. Teams should do better when an MVP candidate is on the ice, so I wouldn't be surprised for a major regression for Hubs this year.

He probably got screwed via math, but the guys who vote on these awards are still in the counting mindset. I would have voted for Igor anyway since the NYR back end was Fox, Lindgren, and 4 random 8th posters on any given night.

 

His defense is just horrible. He got bailed out by an outstanding team.

But yeah, one of the few cases where the Vezina alone wouldn't do a season justice. He was absurd

 

Not many players have lost their mojo as fast as PK did. Very good career but feels like it should have been a lot better.

 

Obviously Hynes does this team no favors (e.g., Cole Smith over Tomasino), but none of the players, even Josi, are as good as they think they are. They all got paid, married, had kids, and called it a day.

If I had to take a road trip with these guys I think Granlund would be the only one I wouldn’t want to murder after about thirty miles.

I know we’ll end up just missing the playoffs but for now I’ll dream.
