List some of your favorite places to eat across the country. Most of my travels have been in the southeast, so I am limited to this area Wilmington- Dock Street Oyster Bar, Circa 1922 Wrightsville Beach- Bluewater Cafe Atlanta- Max Lagers New Orleans- Desire, Brennans, August Fort Walton- Staffs Navarre Beach- East Bay Crab House
I was getting a little nostalgic about Pal's when I was back in kpt a couple weeks ago, but to be completely honest, I was never a huge fan. It doesn't sit well with my friends when I mention this. Sorry, Kingsport.
Berea, KY - Papaleno's, Cardinal Deli Grosse Tete, LA - Tiger Truck Stop Ft. Campbell, KY - Pier 101 (probably not there anymore, but when my Guard unit was going through mobilization for Desert Shield, we ate there quite a bit)
fleur de lys - san francisco (one in vegas too) fresh cream - monterey, ca chez panise - berkeley, ca king taco - los angeles, ca soy y luna - tarzana, ca tommie's burgers - los angeles, ca pizzeria due - Chicago, il
The Big Pal is great. Also there's no messing around with the fries. I've never gotten a bad batch. Seems like 1/3 suck at the other places. I've never liked iced tea, but everyone that does loves it from Pal's.
Charleston - Baltimore Highlands - Birmingham Bones - ATL Chophouse - Huntsville Pat's - Philly Geno's - Philly BlackSalt - DC
I'll just cities and the restaurant in that city that sticks out as a best meal (or favorite place over multiple meals)... : DC - Old Ebbitt Grill (oysters and atmosphere) : Boston - Gaslight (great food without any pretext) : New York - Jean Georges (a bit stuffy, but the food/wine experience has been unparalleled for me) : Knoxville - Rick's Place (couldn't resist) : San Francisco - Chez Panisse (Waters' philosophy of food embodied by her restaurant, classic) : Ann Arbor - Zingerman's Roadhouse (great American food, enough said) : Trondheim, Norway - Havfruen (sitting in a 300 year-old wooden building on the River Nord just off Trondheim fjord, this restaurant taught me what fish is meant to be)
Virginia Beach- Chick's Oyster Bar... Best crabcake I've ever eaten in my opinion and the view is phenomenal. I also love Pal's. If you're ever in Johnson City or Elizabethton, TN get a Greg's Pizza. It's not traditional pizza, but it's incredible. To die for, and greasy enough that you just might actually die.
west tennessean with a lot of friends/acquaintances from tri-cities.... when i finally tried it i was underwhelmed based on the hype
Some place in Brasov, Romania, no idea what it's called, just know there were animal skins everywhere and lots of meat on my plate. Brazeiro's. I know it's a chain, but man. Lamberts' in Sikeston, MO. Good memories rollin' up 55 to St Louis and stopping there. A Chinese place in San Francisco's Chinatown. I don't know what it's called either but everybody there was Chinese so we took that as a good sign and it was. I apologize that this doesn't help anyone else try these places......
Ok BearCat, how can any self-respecting cheesesteak fan like Pat's and Geno's? Pat's ain't bad but Geno's is awful. Un-Philadelphian in my mind. The best steaks come from Steve's Prince of Steaks off Roosevelt blvd., but in a pinch you can also hit up Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave., Chubby's on Henry Ave., or Honest Abe's off Ridge Ave. Just my opinion.
in the 30 plus years I lived 15 miles from Ann Arbor, never once did I ever make it to Zingerman's. lame, I know.
