Making my first trip to Vegas in the spring. Suggestions in places to go/see/eat at/etc.?

For gambling, I like the Venetian, TI, Rio, Caesars (for their sports book), and the Mirage. The Mirage is my favorite casino to play poker, blackjack, whatever your game is. For cheap gambling the Gold Coast is my spot. A total dive but fun and cheap.

If you want to class it up check out Aria. It is an amazing hotel and casino, and like the Bellagio, just a spectacle to walk around and explore.

For food there are so many great places. Mandalay Bay has several great restaurants. My personal favorite is a French steakhouse called Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. Be forewarned that food can be super expensive in Vegas so bring a fat wallet. (I guess the same could be said for the gambling if you start to lose).

As for shows and clubs -- if that is your thing -- I can't really help you that much. Jersey Boys at the Pallazo is apparently incredible and I have seen the Lion King out there which is not bad... not my cup of tea, but interesting I guess. If you are still in the clubbing phase of your life go to the Palms. All the best clubs are there and the "scene" is usually pretty good. The gambling there is meh, but the traffic that comes in and out of that casino is pretty good. (Also, if you have a wife of kids, the Palms has a movie theater, food court, and great swimming pool).

One last thing: If you are booking this trip yourself look at booking the hotel and plane in one package. It will save you loads of money and you'll get a nicer hotel out of it also. Have fun. Vegas is awesome.

i try to hit blackjack at the bellagio in the morning. Great bloody mary's and other drinks and relatively low table minimums.

Do you not like gambling? It's great when you are young, but after night 2 it wears you down. Day 1 (best place on earth!), Day 2 (feeling good), Day 3 (get me out of here).

Opening of March Madness in Vegas is one of the best sporting events in the world.

Cool. Any other sportsbooks y'all like? I see vfj recommended Caesar's above. Should be a great day of college football next Saturday.

How about Fremont St? I assume it's worth checking out at some point.

I went one year and god is it a cluster f. It's great being able to bet on all the games and the final minutes of the opening round games are amazing to behold in the sports book. But try getting a free drink and a table.

The LV Hilton has the largest one. I like the bellagio one just based on comfort. All will be packed on a college football sat so just go in expecting that. One thing I have done is gone to NY NY (which is a terrible casino btw, too many real new yorkers, i shit you not), reserved a table at espn sportszone, and gone and bet at the sports book right next door. You have to pay for the overpriced food and booze, but can pick your own game with sound and it's easy to place bets (note: i haven't done this for like 5 years so things might have changed).

i never feel like i have enough money to gamble. i put a little on the KY Derby every year and i enjoy it. outside of that, gambling just doesn't interest me.

It certainly isn't a place to go if you aren't willing to spend money. Even just hanging at the pool and going to dinner isn't cheap.

    limpleg He gone. No, really.

I bet most of the people that gamble don't have enough to be gambling. You are smart in that respect. I don't gamble big when I do go out there. Biggest win was $3500 from blackjack and I started with $200. Walked away from the table at 9:30 as my friends verbally abused me for getting up and cashing in. Then I watched them lose everything and of course my winnings went to the group.

For golf I suggest Pauite Resort. 3 courses to pick from. All in top notch condition.

Stay away from Fremont. It is the pimple on Vegas' ass. The people there make Walmart crowds look like a classy bunch.
The rest of the suggestions are solid. I was there during March Madness last year, and Caesar's and the Bellagio weren't as crowded as I expected.

Ride the shit on the Stratosphere.

Edit: The naked chick dancing on one of the bars was the only redeeming quality of Freemont.

Edit 2: If you've never been to the Grand Canyon and you have the time, go.
