Words that dumb people overuse in order to look articulate

    I work with a guy who [uck fay]ing loves to use the word "germane." Also likes "copacetic", but pronounces it as "copathetic" and I'm pretty sure he thinks that's how it's spelled too.

    Reminds me of people that use "mute point" for "moot point".

    Good call, MG. Gibbs has about 12 or so words he tries (and fails) to use in order sound smart.

    In the sense that someone made it up and it ended up in the dictionary, yes. Hell, truthiness was a word that was in at least one version of a dictionary.
