The one who hired Cuonzo. Brett Edgerton @EditorEdge 1m Yikes. Cuonzo Martin loses his hiring AD before he coaches a game. RT @wilnerhotline Confirmed: Cal AD Sandy Barbour stepping down
Actually she wanted to hire one of the assistants off the team. A guy completely unqualified. The chancellor vetoed the hire and it became obvious she had no authority anymore. Trust me it's a rare rare thing for a cal chancellor to give a shit about sports.
I take it the move was so egregious that the chancellor blinked and looked at her track record... and made the only logical move?
The alumni haven't been happy with her for a while and she also ignored the search committee for the new football coach to hire a guy who went 1-11. My guess is the veto was more a sign he had already lost confidence in her rather than the final straw.
To hell with that. If I could pawn Dave Hart off on Cal, I'd have to just ask Dros' forgiveness, well after the fact.
Was Sonny head football coach and AD at La Tech or was that reserved for the likes of Dooley? I'm eyeing potential cost savings here.
Didn't think about that. There's a guy out there who has AD, head coaching, and professional experience. He's detail oriented, has a law degree, and a pedigree. How could it ever be a miss for Cal?
And you know, they're called "dirty hippies" for good reason - abysmal showering technique, IMO. I think we've got the makings of a grassroots draft campaign, Dros. "Just a ringy-ding-ding away, baby!"
