Every college-age student was born after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. I still remember watching Nirvana Unplugged on MTV like it was yesterday. Good times.
Not a huge fan of either artist, thread was more in reference to two pop culture moments and how [uck fay]ing old it made me feel to read this.
I loved the whole Seattle scene. I'm not gonna lie. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains... all of it. Not the political crap, just the songs. Pearl Jam's Vitalogy and Nirvana's Unplugged occupy my rotation of music frequently.
I should add one other thing. Neil Young -- my favorite musician of all time -- greatly inspired both Cobain and Vedder, so I hear some of those things in their music when I listen to it.
I do enjoy me some AIC or Soundgarden. Pearl Jam personally didn't age well with me. The PJ doc on Netflix was pretty interesting though.
The night the music truly died? I actually like Nirvana more the older I get. Same with Pearl Jam and STP.
