I never though the day would come but i prefer turkey bacon now. I'm not sure if the way it's prepared has improved or what but i am a fan. Who you got?
texture of turkey bacon is horrendous. I had some last week on a turkey club at Schlesinger's in Philly and couldn't believe how awful it was (especially given the typical solid quality at Schlesinger's).
I agree with the texture, I'm not sure why i all of the sudden like it now. Maybe my palate is taking a turn for the worst.
I throw bacon and country ham into the same category. Throw enough salt on and it's OK. I don't eat a lot of salt any more, so all of that stuff is like drinking sea water to me now.
If you eat turkey bacon long enough, you do start to like it. It is fine to me, but then textures in food have never been an issue and I'm known for being able to eat anything.
I try and try to eat turkey bacon since it's so much healthier, but pork bacon is just where it's at. The taste is better, but not by much. BPV nailed when he talked about the different texture. I just can't eat it.
Bad idea for a thread. Forgot the passion of bacon from the average male. I still love pork. Turkey just gives me the justification to eat six to eight pieces at a setting. Screw it, I lost this thread a while back though.
It's cool WM. I lived in an area once with lots of Hilal and Kosher restaurants. I ate the stuff. But it ain't the same, especially the way the egg and cheese tastes as the fat courses through the sandwich.
Can't handle turkey bacon, but have gotten to the point I really have no preference between turkey sausage and pork sausage.
