I still haven't set my own lines yet for week 1, and so I won't be discussing the actual lines because I can't look at them until I first handicap them myself. That's the protocol. Gotta stick to it. But I shall return. Discuss away.
posted in the other thread: Bets I like: Texas A&M to cover 11 against USCe Virginia to cover the 22 against UCLA (beware 9am starts for west coast teams) USC to cover 22 against Fresno State (I generally hate betting on USC at home since they always get too many points, but USC returns a ton of talent, fresno losses everyone, and Sark is going to run up the score) UW to cover 15.5 against Hawaii (I don't think UW is good, but Hawaii might be the worst program in div 1a. norm chow is unquestionably the worst coach) Ohio State to cover 12 against Navy (yes Braxton miller is injured. by 12 points??)
I agree with your point about west coast teams with an early eastern time kick, but I don't think you realize how bad UVA is.
Let's have some fun and good luck to the season. 3,4,5 units rated.... Thursday Night 4 units Temple under 51 5 units LA Monroe under 46 4 units South Carolina -10
I like tOSU and BC and UCLA and Wash and LSU and a few others. Lotta chalk. Few dogs, but I prefer a chalky week 1.
I freely admit I know next to nothing about Virginia, but I watched espn gameday to see all four pick UCLA to make the playoffs and two pick them to win the national championship. the odds on hundley winning the Heisman have halved over the past month. ucla is going to be decent, but there is no prayer they are a top 10 team and the pac-12 has a long history of laying eggs for 9am starts. this line just has to be too high. at the very least I'd avoid this game.
I'm also starting to like Rutgers over WSU. the game is in Seattle, not Pullman, and Rutgers returns a ton of players.
Well I follow UVA pretty çlosely. The best way to sum it up is they return 17 starters and that's not a good thing. Mike London is just an awful football coach.
