I bought a calf this last summer and a local farmer rasied it for me. I [uck fay]ed up, I'll never be able to go back to store bought beef again in my life.
It's the only way to go. After all was said and done, it came out right at two dollars a pound for the meat. Which is a hell of a deal.
I'm fortunate enough to have beef farmers in the close family. Only down side is they're out in West TN, so I've got to stock up everytime I go out there for any reason.
I grew up on a farm and we did this a few times. Pigs and chickens too. If you can it or freeze it properly it will last years.
I've been on a wild hog kick lately. My father in law traps them in Georgia. There's really no difference.
As a Tennessee native, i am ashamed to admit I have never had real moonshine. Since it's pretty much legal now I should jump at the chance to when I'm down again.
Well I guess I can watch that new Moonshiners show and pretend I'm in the know. I will have some real moonshine one day dammit.
Prepping Christmas dinner as we speak. On the menu: 12 lb turkey, green beans two ways, stuffing with sausage, asparagus, broccoli, mashed red potatoes, yams with marshmallows, yeast rolls and pumpkin pie. Doing everything homemade except the baked goods. Even the marshmallows are homemade. We will see how this goes.
