let me get this straight. tough guys don't wear sleeves, but they have jackets and ski masks on the sidelines?
No, no. Sideline doesn't count...only matters on the field, where the cameras are rolling. Because, as with everything else this guy does, purpose is purely cosmetic. Not about being a tough football team, but having the appearance of a tough football team.
Bengals linemen went no sleeves in Freezer Bowl, when it was -34 wind chill. (Did it to intimidate the sunny, tanned Chargers). A lot of coaches don't want skill players or anyone tucking the football with sleeves on. You can lose a feel for the football.
Butch is dumb, but this isn't just a Butch thing. http://www.businessinsider.com/why-nfl-players-dont-wear-sleeves-in-cold-games-2014-1
I know all about the players not wearing sleeves. I can't think of another coach who has a rule against it.
Just feeds into the idea that the guy is a dumber version of dooley with his ridiculous mental games yet can't handle some of the basic things of the game.
It's just something that's not important. It's 30 degrees outside, why the hell does it matter if your kicker wears long sleeves? I wish he put as much thought into how to beat a blitz or how to get the offense better in the red zone as he does about what players wear in cold weather games. He's a carnival barker
