    1. The Birdsongs certainly had a, shall we say, interesting take on the Anthem. It had an old school Partridge Family feel to it.
    2. Good to see Mark Griffin do the lead to the introductions. It's always sound business for a program to celebrate the rank and file players who make the thing go. It's easy to forget that and just showcase the big names. It was also a class move by UT to recognize Ben Jobe at the game. It's almost criminal how underappreciated his coaching career is by the mainstream.
    3. From the point they trailed 15-2 until the final buzzer, Tennessee played very well. This team is never going to be artistic or efficient. They have to scrape and claw for everything. That happened for the final 35 minutes tonight.
    4. It speaks well of a program when you start seeing guys who don't get consistent minutes step up and contribute when their number is called. Dwight Miller did exactly that tonight. UT would have gotten buried in the first half without his play.
    5. The operators of the Kiss Cam missed an epic opportunity. They turned the camera on Fallon Smith, which was brilliant. They made the decision to attempt to pair her with Chris Dortch, which was not. Their other option was Kris Budden. Played correctly, that would have brought TBA to its collective feet.
    6. I'm not sure how to describe halftime entertainment provided by The Russian Bar Trio. I'll simply say that I hope the young lady gets a far larger cut of payout than her male cohorts.
    7. Tennessee controlled the boards against one of the better rebounding teams in the SEC. All of UT's interior players held their ground and won their individual battles on the glass.
    8. Ole Miss looks like a beaten group right now. I hate it for Andy Kennedy, but this is probably the end of the line for him if administration can find the money to pay his buyout. He's a good guy who will undoubtedly land on his feet. It's just not working out in Oxford. There's too much talent on that team for this level of performance. It does give me even greater appreciation for what Rob Evans accomplished in his tenure at Mississippi.
    9. The perimeter play so much better tonight that it almost defies explanation that those were the same players out there. There were still the usual ballhandling foibles and Skylar McBee got the rented mule treatment on the defensive end, but Cam Tatum was as good as he's been in recent memory. It's going to be very intriguing to see if Jordan McRae can take the next step and become a consistent All SEC type player.
    10. That was a sound performance by UT. They now need to go take care of business in Columbia on Saturday. If they do that, they'll go into the final week with some momentum and assured of a winning regular season. From where they were after the loss at Memphis, that's a nice run.

Hat, what are your thoughts on the job Coach Martin has done so far this season and has he exceeded your expectations? He's basically taken a rag tag group of players and instilled some grit in them. I never imagined UT would beat a UConn or UF this season.

They've greatly exceeded my expectations. I thought they'd finish at or near the bottom of the league.

The most encouraging thing to me is just how much they've improved. They've certainly got their warts still but they're nowhere near the team that lost to Austin freaking Peay in December. Adding Stokes certainly helped, but I don't think that's 100% of the story.

Do you think that UT will reach and maintain being a top 10-15 team on a yearly basis under Coach Martin?

    Recruiting will tell the tale.

That's really tough to do anywhere outside of a few select schools. I think the measure should be making the NCAA Tournament on an annual basis. I haven't seen anything yet that tells me he can't do that.

experienceamazing .com leads to Ole Miss's website. Didn't porn sites get busted for having misleading URLs?

Upon Google Images review, Fallon Smith is now a five-star prospect on my Tennessee recruiting big board.
