You can do a one year masters your first year teaching if you have experience in your field many places, so I've been told.

I'm glad to see the GOP showing their true colors on the national debt by wanting to raise it 9 trillion dollars. Different wings same damn bird.

The two parties together are an extremely ineffective combo that only seem to cancel out each others silver linings and never the bill.

Do you have to have an "education" degree to take Praxis or whatever?

No, I think it can be a valid criticism to say that only those with education degrees, or a Master's can be allowed to teach.

I would think a 4 year degree would be sufficient, and if not, due to state or federal requirements, then you have a valid criticism of the system.

Well, I just did a really terrible job of saying what I was trying to say and i don't think I know enough to really discuss all this. I usually try to stay out of those discussions

A lot of good ones, a lot of bad ones. Usually the most vocal ones along with the most vocal being the teachers union are the liberal nut jobs.

Nice personal shot. I thought better of you. Anyway, says quite a few teachers I talk to from different areas of the country.

The state has a transitional license program.
-from a TN Dept of Ed pdf on teacher licensure

And there are no federal hoops. States set their own licensing standards.

Edit, I meant, I can take a Praxis to teach other subjects.

So, the quiet ones are conservative nut jobs?

    I'm not in a teacher's union.

I talk to engineers from around the country all the time. According to your standard, I guess I'm qualified to comment on the shitty job engineers with cushy state jobs are doing because of our crumbling infrastructure throughout the nation as well as them wasting public money from the cost overruns in so many of the projects in which they are involved.

As a nut job yourself, on some level I'm sure you can relate.
