VQ has basically said that he and Barnes could not see eye to eye....apparently Mostella kept lying to Barnes. No drugs, academics, etc.

    Enter Jordan Bowden.

Or let Bone run the point and have Lamonte at the 2.

Mostella hasn't been able to see eye to eye with any coach he's had.

Retirement home Barnes needs to stfu and win games. There is a reason this program remains garbage because his lazy ass will not recruit. Texas fired him for a good reason. If he does not sign 2 additional impact players this spring,I believe he is done after the 2017-2018 season. ( If Blackburn is hired of course)

I see him retiring before getting fired

He took over a shit storm of a program and he's doing better than Pearl in Auburn. He will need to get more shooters and size but his recruiting or lack thereof has been over blown

Doing better than a former coach. Best argument out there. Unbeatable.

Pearl is in year 3 opposed to year 2 for Barnes. The basketball program was destroyed quickly by Dave Hart. The roster was arguably the worst in a shitty basketball conference once Tyndall left town

And you think Barnes' opinion that he's "earned the right" not to travel for recruiting, and deciding to do just that, is helpful here?

He's coasting, and because we are the school that was dumb enough to hire him, we're now floundering.

I wonder if not traveling to recruit could be construed as neglecting his duties and get him canned without a buyout.

Probably per the language of his contract, but you'd likely play hell enforcing it when it's so glaringly obvious that his assistant says it on a sports talk show, and you've done nothing to attempt it's correction.

    Canned by who? Dave Hart?

He probably got a handshake deal from Hart that not traveling would be fine if he'd accept the job.

Whoever becomes AD. He shouldn't be canned right now, but he's head coach of a major sport at UT. It is inevitable.

You're exaggerating how bad of a job he's doing. He's pretty much going to do what we hired him for and that's stabilize the program. We'll be back to being a tourney team but unlikely to do much damage once we're there. Considering who was making the hire, they could have done a lot worse than Barnes
