I'm not sure what effect this will have, if any, to be honest. But, it does strike me as somewhat odd, coming from the man who spent a significant amount of time in decrying even the possibility of international meddling in our elections. How is this any different than that? How is what Obama is doing here, and openly, any different than what he accused Putin of doing in our election, Brexit, and now the French elections? I don't think endorsing is meddling. Meddling would be actively working within the country towards getting someone elected, either illicitly or legally. And as a private citizen, he can say anything he wants to at this point. IMHO.
So, because he made it official, it isn't meddling? How then to explain his comments during Brexit, and as POTUS?
Again, endorsement is not meddling. Putin can come out and say "I hope Trump gets elected, I think it would be good for the world and for the USA. And for me." But hacking, systemically spreading false information with intent to affect the election, etc is different. Particularly if, and it isn't proven we know, that it was being done with the help or OK of the Trump Candidacy. IMHO. And once again, Obama is now a private citizen. You, TennyD, can officially endorse Pepe LePew for France's election if you wish.
1. I've still not seen the proof that Russia did anything, or what effect it had, if any. 2. What about Obama's meddling in Brexit, as POTUS? 3. I have yet to announce my endorsement of any candidate in the French election.
Not only is he meddling in another countries election, but didn't he spy on the Le Pen campaign? Then again, who did Obama not spy on? Maybe Lying Susan Rice will get a subpoena and we can find out.
Brexit was a different situation. I think it was inappropriate and understand why folks might consider it meddling.
That's all I'm asking for - a simple acknowledgment of the hypocrisy. I yield to the valid and oppositional arguments on Obama's endorsement of a French candidate, and abandon the claim.
I argue there was a big to do about nothing there because of all the work done in the 90's to fix all of the coding.
Hypocrisy and politicians go together like Tennessee Football and shitty coaching. I do think it affects the right more because they're joined at the hip with Jesus.
