A friend of mine took a women's studies class in college. The professor insisted that the class use the spelling "womon" and "womyn" when referring to females, as the common "woman" and "women" mean "out of men" and are consequently demeaning. On the final, friend followed this directive but used "mon" and "myn" to refer to males. He did not pass.
A male in a female studies class run by what is apparently a hyper-angry female is probably not the best thing to do.
