One of the best. Can't think of many that had the number of great songs he put out.

If you'd ever seen him in concert you'd, "Oh, this one's my favorite," like 19 times.

I enjoyed Thomas Earl Petty's music.

Here's a Tom Petty story that Tom doesn't even appear in. Back in the 80's I worked hanging drywall. To hear me tell it I was pretty good at it. Somehow I wound up working with this younger guy. He was a big strong fellow, but he seemed to have a weakness for Weed. We were working up above the ceiling doing what they call "Firewalls" and I was on the scaffold measuring and he was on the floor cutting. Every measurement I gave him had to be repeated 3 or 4 times. Evidently he heard them and then forgot them. It was always, "Dude, now what was that measurement?" or "Where do I need to cut now?" or "Whoa mannnnn, life is wild."

However, when the Tom Petty song "Mary Jane's Last Dance" came on the radio, he sang a whole verse - word for word - before the music intro finished. He couldn't remember anything about, but he remembered Tom Petty.

Indy's fantasies about attending a concert with a girl have been relocated to their own thread.

    We are now free.

Don't forget there is a nearly four hour documentary on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on Netflix.
