Let’s try to size Pruitt up. Is he better than Steele, but worse than Fisher? Is he better than Stoops, but worse than Mullen? Or better than both. I want a comparison to the names out there (not Gruden, not Kiffin) and a comparison to the rest of the division as it stands. Where are we, coaching wise?
He's completely an unknown in my opinion. Don't see it going any way except really good or really bad. Which means, for us, really bad. At least it won't be hard to run him out of here after 4 years of suck. People will hate him cause he's a bammer. I see where he could be the 2nd best coach in the east, I can also see where he'd be about the 5th. Really dunno
I think he's going to be a pretty solid hire. I don't think he's as dumb as people jumped on, and I think he's going to recruit at Kiffin's level here.
Honestly, I like the Pruitt hire more than I would have liked the Dopey Dan Mullen (Tenny did you come up with that nickname on Twitter, credit if so) hire. Pruitts ceiling, to me, is much higher than Mullen's, especially at TN.
Completely agree. Mullen turns in strings of mediocre seasons and national media loses their minds. He isn't very good. He's the Teddy Bruschi of coaches.
Just based on the SEC East that we play in, blindass guessing....................I would have Kirby as the #1 coach which isn't saying a lot and Pruitt with the potential to be 1 or 2 in the East. I think he's instantly better than Mason, Mizzou's coach, Stoops, and Muschamp. He should be better than Mullen. Florida is about to find out Mullen is going to have them as a perennial 9 win team, nothing more. So, with the East sucking so hard and this guys unknowns I believe that by year 2 he should compete for the East and year 3 win it if he's worth a damn. That won't be asking too much.
I wonder how good Fisher is and how much was on having a total game-changer at QB. He obviously recruits well, but he definitely wasn’t playing SEC West competition in Tallahassee. I’d tentatively put him where you have him, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him jumped
I think we will find out a lot about Smart in this playoff. Beating up a sorry SEC East isn't much proof.
