Doubt it. UF would have jumped us. Florida, Nebraska, Miami, and Oregon probably would have been your top 4.
I miss the days when we lined up and ran the ball down people's throat just because we could. Also miss the days we dared people to run on our D line. Forget the glitz and glam of pretty boy QBs, RBs, & WRs. The most beautiful things in football are an elite bunch of hogmollies in the OL & a mean and nasty DL who would wade through hell to fight a circle saw. A constantly pissed off bunch of LBs who have motors like the Energizer bunny are damn sexy, too.
And when we had all that, we complained loudly about “3rd and Chavis” or the “dreaded mustang package”...
Looking back through my media guides from the 90’s and early 2000’s it’s hard to believe we didn’t win more hardware than we did.. we had an absurd amount of talent.
Tennessee and FSU were the two big pipelines to the NFL. It was a real selling point when it came to recruiting.
And about to have no nfl picks for 3rd time in 5 years. Awful when competiting in the league that sends the mkst.
not sure if anybody else mentioned it, but.... Yes, it's been 20 years since a national championship. It was a 31 year interregnum between 1967 and 1998, though.
National Championships don't bother me. It is lack of SEC Championships that chaps my ass so much I cannot sit down.
