although I recall a lot of UT fans being happy Chaney was gone after 2012. Everyone wanted to keep Pittman, but there seemed to be a consensus that Chaney's teams were too finesse and didn't run the ball enough. When you have Hunter and CP and Rajion Neal is your running back, no shit you throw a lot. But I guess hindsight is 20/20 there.

 

I haven't seen anything concrete on Pittman yet.

 

And a certain Atlanta radio personality is calling Chaney “unethical” for taking UGa’s counter offer back to UT...

And to be dead honest... if $5mil/3 years is right UGA is terrified of losing even more coaches to Pruitt and they're having to pay way over position coaches and even over OC salary to keep a guy at Athens. It's not a good look at all.

To put it in my industry... if a company has to offer 50% over market rate they're probably a horrible place to work.

 

It looks to me like Chaney never intended to stay in Athens and just wanted to squeeze more out of UT... which is fine because that's how all of this works.

 

Me either. There is an offer on the table and a title change (assistant HC, I believe) but whether that offer has been accepted or not I don’t know. Atlanta radio is too busy running down Chaney to report on Pittman

Of course UGA faithful will say Chaney wasn't worth it because they apparently believe the "the OC doesn't really matter" mantra. I remember being that arrogant once as a fan and it didn't end well.
