XFL did wonderfully the first week, as well, if I remember. Will be interesting to see where they are in week 7 or so.
This was also a much better product than the XFL was. This is being organized and ran by football guys.
the way they are taking care of the players' offseason/post career interests is really amazing, given the scope of this new league.
That was the talk I heard. The football quality was decent. XFL was like three false starts for every play ran.
It is. Make fun of him all you want (and I do), but Jeff Fisher does know football. As does Bill Polian. Thought Fisher's interview in 3rd quarter the other night was very good in explaining the goal of the league. They want to work with the NFL to make this a developmental league, and NFLN actually is showing I think 20 games or so. What I am hoping happens is that some of the young guys and practice squad guys play here in the spring to get extra work in.
It would be interesting if they started taking guys straight from high school for the ones that don't have any interest in college.
It would be smart on their part too. 250,000 a year for three years till the NFL will draft you. Plus they're getting some of the best talent in football, it's a win for everyone.
Players need an avenue to the NFL outside of the college game. Some players have absolutely no business being in college.
From what I've seen about all of this, the Memphis team SUCKS. Talked to the grandfather of one of the players today and he said the team is very poorly organized compared to the NFL teams.
Well, I vividly remember Mike's eyes and facial expression when he played. Now, he's on the sidelines smiling and watching his team get handed their ass. Acts like he's on frigging vacation. But, yeah, this is Memphis.
