I’m guessing improper hot plate usage.

Thousands of years of history, up in smoke. Literally.

    I’m gutted.

Yeah this isn't a minor fire. They're blaming it on construction work.

Catholic Church needs that insurance money.

The spire has collapsed, as has the roof:

I saw somewhere on twitter that we don't even fully understand how the roof was even constructed.

It is sad to see almost a millennia of history destroyed like that. It survived WWII, for crying out loud.

It took over a hundred years to build

    True or false -

Card once inadvertently caused an evacuation of the area around Notre Dame because he forgot some black trunks carrying sheet music in the courtyard and the police thought they were bombs.

Honestly, I don't think Trump's suggestion was stupid although a little late. I don't know much about fire fighting, but I would have figured dousing that thing with as much flame retardant as possible ASAP would have saved it.

But I don't know if France even is set up for that. It's a pretty wet and cut down country. Doubt forest fires are really a concern.

I guess true since you are posting it. Everything about this is screaming JQK though.

you'd destroy the building and the ones around it dropping thousands of pounds of water like that. you don't fight structure fires with a tanker plane.

Again, I have no clue. But I would have figured that caving in the roof would be better than incineration.

It is also not very precise. It is good when you are trying to hit 100 acres, but a building and not destroying things around it/killing people on the ground? Impossible.
