When Ole Miss hired Cutcliffe in 98, was it just assumed that they were doing so primarily to make sure they landed Eli Manning ?
I wasn’t privy to what was going on in Oxford 20 years ago, but I would guess that it played a big part.
Inlaws have a connection there that basically confirmed it was in part because he didn't like some of the "help" he was getting on the recruiting side. I'm sure if he'd won the West with Eli, that wouldn't have mattered.
Seriously? Is Cutcliffe an idiot or was he just completely oblivious to the doings of Ole Miss before taking the job?
He wouldn't go into more details than they wanted someone who "was more in line with building a winning program". He did express some concern about Orgeron and rightly so at the time. Guy sounds a little like Foghorn Leghorn when he talks. Nice guy who married one of my wife's cousins.
