Nobody. Exactly nobody will coach, again.
    Wow.
I'd like to say that this is shocking, but it isn't, at all.

Read this earlier today. Insane. Glad 7 sane minds prevailed. I can't fathom it taking 7 years to close.

it makes no logical sense. how many baseball slides occur without incident? the serious injury rate is likely less than driving. that anyone could think it reasonable to hold a coach culpable is outrageous. Sometimes, no one is at fault. Shit happens.

I am not a lawyer, but I assume there is some legal term for "shit happens".

I sprained my left thumb posting on this site earlier this year.

    Tenny, better lawyer up.

i've been worried about this for years via coaching. despite long speeches of bat safety, i had a batting practice this year where a 7 year old swung his bat outside of the cage and missed hitting his baby bro in the head by like a foot. you know if that connects the little league and i are getting sued.

There was something similar a few years ago to a kid’s family suing because he broke his neck tackling. Family claimed he was never taught proper way to tackle by coaches.

I can’t imagine damaging an ankle in such a way by sliding into a base.

Send all inquiries to @cotton, @Oldvol75 and @justingroves.

    If I can’t mediate, I’ll physically attack.

He had a legit injury - broke ankle, wouldn’t heal, likely never the same.

it can happen. I’ve seen a couple live. Usually involves a late slide or a cleat getting snagged.

the people suing claimed it happened because the coach told him to slide right before he reached the base

The whole necrosis thing seems odd. Must have been a hell of a break.

necrosis can occur with an acute break or dislocation, but modern medicine has changed to where its caught before the blood flow is stopped for too long. I'm not even sure the surgeons back in the day with an injury like Bo Jackson had, considered AVN as a possibility.
If the kid dislocated his ankle, seems the doctor or hospital would be sued before the freaking coach. What a joke.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they are getting sued, too.

But yeah, if he’s had that much trouble I’d be more curious about the post-accident care than the accident itself.

Sorry, this injury calls for competent medical care.

    Competent medical care.
