I don't even really get the Paterno ranking. He coached for a billion years. Yeah, he won a lot of games. He really didn't win that many championships and his last conference championship I think he slept through large portions of the games.

yeah he had a bunch of undefeated seasons, but a lot of those were against awful competition.

And why is Nick Saban at 2, but Urban Meyer, way down the list behind a bunch of guys he's clearly outperformed?

I mean Urban has only lost more than 3 games in a season twice, over seventeen seasons, in four different stops.

He’s number 3 all time in win percentage, behind Rockne and Frank Leahy.

Probably because Urban is a scummy piece of shit that yells "chest pain" when his bullshit catches up to him

Vince Dooley ahead of the General is just awful.

I don't think Fulmer got a very fair shake either.

Holtz at 23 is probably the worst thing there.

The general is the father of modern defense with his wide tackle 6

Not doing much to prevent his assistant from [uck fay]ing kids in the showers should knock him down the rankings a bit, too.

Dooley is the most overrated coach of the modern era.

They’re probably mad at Urban for going to work at Fox instead of going back to ESPN.

Imagine going down a list of all time coaches and thinking, "Yeah, I'd much rather have Dabo Swinney than General Neyland or Frank Broyles."

And this is also why Holthsthzth is ranked so highly.

a problem with all these lists is bias towards people the rankers actually know and saw.

Did the General not go an entire season unscored upon?

1939 Regular season. They gave 14 to SC in the rose bowl. I believe that they had a stretch of 17 consecutive games without being scored upon.

15 straight shutouts from from 1938-1939.

17 straight regular season shutouts from 1938-1940.

75 points given up total from 1938-1940.

Butch gave up 79 to WKU and Oregon combined.
