Thanks. I had seen him mentioned over there before. Don’t know if he’s legitimate or not but a lot of this recruiting stuff changes rapidly when kids change their minds.
Hes called a lot of things before they happen but hes also lead people to believe we were getting certain recruits and it didn't happen. He was pretty certain we were getting Darnell Washington and flipping Hardy. I'm sure there were others that I can't remember.
I think most of the recruiting "insiders" are the sports equivalent of the weirdo guy that claims he can talk to people's dead relatives. On a random recruiting weekend, they can claim that a secret "big fish" is coming in. If a four star shows up that wasn't talked about, they look like they know shit. If no one unexpected shows up, we get the "things are fluid, stuff changes quick with recruiting" line. Guy knows we've visited with Evans so he makes the jump that he could be on campus this weekend, which isn't a huge reach. If he is, the guy looks legit. If he isn't, it can be blamed on the weather, dog has diarrhea, school commitment, travel issues, another school turned him at the last second.
Hell, after a quick Google search on Pruitt/Evans, I stumbled across a link to VN and this was the first post on that page: Things change and sometimes quickly...
I don’t get why my bookie can’t understand that. I mean we were going to win at the time I placed the bet.
Sure. There did use to be 1 or 2 guys over there who were legitimate employees that worked in same building as the coaches. One of them was skeeter. They sometimes knew what the coaches knew. They were occasionally wrong as well when the coaches were overly optimistic based on what a recruit had told them.
I know a couple of families with kids on the team but dont ever ask them anything. There have been JG conversations but me and the dad go back 40 years and always talked qbs
Recruiting insiders are a silly thing. You're putting a lot of faith on 17 and 18 year olds not changing their minds.
