Regardless of who paid for it - TMC (the system generating these headlines, which is the University of Texas health system, so there is a government angle) those beds exist today within their system.

 

That's fair. However, these headlines aren't even tied to a single hospital being at capacity. This is the full TMC system across many hospitals across many counties reporting their total collective occupancy / capacity.

 

Ftr local hospitals here have been booming with backlogged "elective" surgeries, which take up hospital beds and some icu beds where there are cardiothoracic surgeries especially. 3 months of patients crammed into full schedules means more than usual hospital and icu beds being used

 

Our positivity rate is starting to look like Houston, so I'm just going to start drinking for the next couple weeks.

We were in indiana this weekend with lacrosse players up to HS level competing full contact. Maybe 200 or so teams and a huge baseball and aau tourney at same park. Supposed to be in Atlanta week after next. Why is that happening but not with football?
That said if they cancel next week in atlanta i wouldnt be surprised.
I will also say it was apparant kids needed this weekend mentally and phyaically. We had many discussions about it. Kids need to get back to school in the fall and get back to competing asap. Sounds harsh but people die and we are gonna have a whole other psychiactric deal in a few years if we dont let the kids get back to some normalcy, especially as we see their risk of death from playing the sport is probably riskier than them dying from covid.

I'm down with doing whatever we can to prioritize kids getting back to normal.

 

I never knew kids were so fragile. Damn youth these days, not sitting around inside playing video games.
