I assume you meant 2006/2007? And I agree. You can only suck so long before people in charge start going "This has to change." Are we going to get a guy that is going to win 6 Natties? No, Saban is a creature all unto himself. But dammit, i want to be in Atlanta and win the SEC. That is not unreasonable.
And what is on Ole Miss boards this morning? Anyone know? Going back to my quiet corner and fetching popcorn.
I think Lanes’s return would be a mixed review nationally. Some would applaud the hire, but half would laugh and say same old Lane, same old Tennessee...and, in time, they may be right. But goddam it’d be a mardi gras atmosphere around that program for a year or two....and that enthusiasm might be enough to stock the roster and get it rolling again long term. I do think Lane would actually stay this time, for 5+ years, and wouldn’t leave unless the NFL came calling again....I think this is truly his dream college job at this point.
I want Lane. He's my #1. But, even if we don't get him, White's track record suggests we will get a good hire. And it will be an offensive guy.
Pruitt challenged everyone in the building to get their shit together and work with him. It backfired on him, but I believe it opened a lot of eyes around the program
One thing I wouldn't doubt upon Lane's return and that's he would definitely put together a top shelf staff.
I'd happily take Kiffin, but I'll believe it when I see it. The redemption story is really cool until you realize that he would be doing to Ole Miss (leaving after a year) the exact same thing he did to us and is redeeming himself for. I just don't see it but would love to be wrong.
