Y’all, I had to get off the UCF board... the more I poked around, the uglier it got. We’ve probably hired not one, but two turds.

 

Too late now. We’re stuck for the next few years at least.

It looks like he's keeping Steele and letting Steele hire Brick Haley as the dline coach. That isn't awful.

Elarbee, his oline coach at UCF, is good.

He does have Willie Martinez, a former BSIA member at UCF

 

Most of the good staff are already hired. Steele and Graham peaced out immediately. Might retain Weinke and Osovet. Seems like the most probable option is pulling majority of staff from UCF.

 

Thought Steele staying was unlikely, but I'm down if he is.

I expected a better hire, but I dont quite understand the UCF fans ire on the 2020 season that obviously had it challenges...

4 Losses in 2020

- 8 pt loss vs Tulsa after leading early. Both teams were 2-0 going in.

- 1 pt loss @ Memphis where they had a comfortable lead beginning 4th and defense crapped the bed... Memphis scores 2 in last 3 mins.

- 3 pt loss (36-33) vs Cincy.... UGA beat Cincy 24-21 as a comparable

- 14 pt loss in bowl vs BYU...

So two of the 4 losses to 1 loss, top 15 teams, a loss to Tulsa who lost to OSU/MSU/Cincy, and a loss to 8-3 Memphis

Lost top WR in season opening win over Ga Tech and he didn't come back until late in the season. Had a freshman and two So on the OL. Had some So and Fr in key positions on defense.

 

Keeping Weinke doesn’t sound like a wise choice, but maybe Pruitt was holding him back. Maybe.
Any word on Chaney staying or leaving?

dont know if heupel is going to do anything here. don't care. hope it works out.
think we'll get hammered big time by the 'AA, and that's not going to make it fun either.

y'know, a lot of things in life are habitual... i was at utk from 90 to 95, which were pretty golden years, and even after returning to memphis, i don't think i missed a broadcast game until we hired dooley... missed a few games that year... missed a few more under trumpet.... i watched a bit more in pruitt's first year, but then started missing more games his second year, and i honestly sat through only parts of 2 games this past year. point is, not watching tennessee football has simply become habitual for me. i told my bama buddy when kiffin jumped ship that it would take at least 10 years before things started to get back on track, and here we are headed into year 12 since his leaving.

it's just not fun anymore. and that really sucks, because those 90s years were hella [uck fay]ing fun.
