First L of the year. They made the clutch hits, we did not.

Of our 10 team league, 8 of us are capable of beating anyone. 2 teams are not that good, but the other 8 are all pretty close to each other.

 

Have already rescheduled 94 baseball and softball games. Some more than once.

 

I told that [uck fay] down at the league office... who's in charge of scheduling?

Lacrosse about to get more fun. Travel to play at OSU in a few weeks. Perspective check coming. The northern teams will beat us, but its the time and age some kids step up against big competition and separate themselves. Gonna be fun to see who does.

 

Win number 4 tonight. Pitched like crap, but bats were awake. Big weekend. Win both and we've got a chance at 12 wins.

 

Win #5 today in dominating fashion.

Close to saying this team is really good.

Looks like I'm behind the plate for our 12U games tonight. If anyone wants to come and heckle, come one, come all. 6 and 8 pm.

 

We have 85. I think it's a Little League rule, but I don't know.

 

And we play 9-12, so it's probably 12u rules.

 

On a side note, we are two games in, and the younger kids, like mine, are learning a ton. They gave the option for 9yos to stay down on machine pitch one more season, but I'm glad we moved up. So far, Cotton Jr has:

1. Struck out bc the kid on the mound worked so fast that he wasn't ready for the pitches;
2. Walked;
3. stolen a base;
4. Seen an umpire with a ludicrously inconsistent strike zone;
5. Seen a kid on the other team steal home bc our cathcer and pitcher weren't paying attention to the guy on 3rd;
6. Seen a dozen people advance to first on a dropped 3rd strike.

I'm sure there is a lot more, but that's top of mind. It's good for him.

 

I don’t know what it is for the older divisions

 

Only problem with kid pitch is how boring the game is.

 

In our thursday game, we went through two pitchers with the 85 pitch limit and got about 25 into the third.

Game went 6 innings.

Boo.

 

10s can still only go 75. 11s 12s can go 85.

 

Saturday my 10 year old starter went 4 innings and threw 63 pitches. 3 hits, 2 runs, 12 strikeouts. After the first inning the other team put the bat on the ball exactly once. He threw a gem. For the year he's 4-0, has given up 7 runs in 15 and 2/3 innings with 41 strikeouts.

Edit - forgot he'd not get credit for one of those wins.

 

my nephew is 10 and the last game of his i attended a kid hit a walk off triple with the bases loaded to win the game down 2. now that was fun. the game before they won on a walk 0ff walk which isn't nearly as interesting or fun.

 

we're 12 games into the season and it's becoming a bit of a grind. i'll be happy when it's over. kids are playing great though.
