The commentators after the game are acting like we are still in 2017... I'm way more interested in 2022 than in 2018 at this point.
I mean, Zardes has some ability but is not nearly decisive enough to be a forward. He wastes so many touches near goal. He'd be a decent midfielder, I think.

Sorry if we've already talked about this, but the Gold Cup moving from 12 to 16 teams guarantees that we avoid Mexico, Costa Rica, and [insert current 4th-best in CONCACAF] for the entirety of the first round. We actually got an unusually tough group with three 2017 Hex participants--none of the other groups have more than one. I mean Costa Rica opened with freaking Bermuda and Nicaragua and now move into their toughest game of the group stage against Haiti.
USWNT looked a whole lot better than Spain, but we got really lucky that the ref was in the market for soft contact in the box. France is going to be scary next round.
