I let myself consider the possibility for a moment the Vols are 2-2 after Gainesville......it's a dark dark place.

6 is the floor. If we can't get to that in year 2 we probably have the wrong guy. [itch bay] Jones got to 6 wins in year 2, that should be motivation enough for the staff.

I think they will do it, but every year and situation is different. it would mean year 3 would be playing for the job if they don't, imo.

I think improvement year to year in terms of win total will always be the minimum expectation.

And even at 6 I have doubts he'll make it.

We should have had 6 last year if we beat USCe like we should have.

I believe that the upperclassmen on the defense started getting whipped and gave up in that game's second half.

The defensive line didn't quit, necessarily, they just physically couldn't go anymore

It's almost Football Time in Tennessee!! When choosing between to hypothetical choices, at my age, I choose the most optimistic. [uck fay] 5-7. Ain't nobody got time for that.

We’re going into the 4th quarter of the Ga State game losing 21-20. ESPN currently has out win chances at a shade over 50%. At home. Against Georgia State. Not Georgia. Not Georgia Tech. Not even Georgia Southern. Georgia freaking State, a school that has only been playing football for five minutes... if Tennessee loses this game it’s over. It will officially be time to abandon any hope that Pruitt will do anything other than provide the next coaching staff a little bit of talent.

Damn! So much for "old man" optimism.
It would appear that 5-7 was the more optimistic choice.

I'm going to add "avoiding polls on Vols win/loss prediction" to my list. "Never bet on the Vols and the Spread" has been on there since 1970 or there abouts.
