Crazy ass scene yesterday in Culiacan, Mexican. Apparently, if I understand this correctly, the Mexican police accidently came across the son of El Chapo, the head of the Sinoloa Cartel now in an American prison, and arrested him. The cartel quickly retaliated and turned the city of Culiacan into a war zone, surrounded the police and military forcing them to return the drug kingpin's son back to the cartel. Yes, the police were forced to give up a drug lord because they were outgunned by a criminal organization. Some of the highlights below.
It's not that kind of "high," card. We don't need a wall, we just need to give a shit and kick their ass.
Part of the problem is the Mexican military is stretched out on the border to cater to the Trump demands and not as able to deal with the cartels as effectively where they operate.
What doesn't he take credit for? However, this one's on the Mexican government, too, since they have serious issues with corruption and need to spend more money on the military and police to resolve this threat.
Honestly, I wish we'd just go in and clean house with the cartels. If Mexico gets pissed we invaded, tell them so what.
I think that should be an option before a wall. tell Mexico they can support it or they can fight it, just choose.
I don't necessarily like this option, it's just the best/most effective bad option. We can either clean house or let them continue to grow in power on both sides of the border. Frankly, I say start at the Rio Grande and not stop until we get to Guatemala.
The cartels are dead. Long live the cartels. It isn't like cocaine would stop being harvested and demanded. It'll just be next one up, forever, until it is no longer profitable.
It's no different than targeted enforcement against organized crime/gangs here. All that changes is the base of operation. As long as there is a monetary gain, the cartels will carry on.
