15' IN LB Darrin Kirkland Jr.

Supposedly visiting for the Mizzou game. May be the back up plan to Cherry. Or at least is who we go after to replace him.

Supposedly it's all good with this kid. I think I read that he will be announcing during the US Army All-American Bowl.

 

Think I read the same. Appears he would be a better overall prospect than Cherry.

Also saw where he mentioned the idea of playing behind two stud DTs was appealing to him or something of that nature.

 

I don't know if he's got the attitude or motor of Cherry but he's an upgrade as far as recruiting services see him.

I don't know how much of a hitter Kirkland is compared to Cherry, but the kid just flows to the ball. If Kirkland plays behind a D-Line that can eat up blocks and keep him clean, which Tennessee should have shortly, he's going to put up some serious stats. Potentially.

Actually I think he plays at Butch's last gig.

Kirkland I don't think has had his visit here yet. So, no need to panic.

 

Those two things were obviously very impressive about Cherry, but from a talent point of view I always questioned if he was quick enough to play LB in the SEC. Everything else was there but the necessary quickness was lacking at times.

 

Jeff Luc's career taught me a lot of things about judging high school talent.

 

Kirkland is visiting this weekend. Need to win

We have a ton of ground to make up from what I understand but a win this weekend a some crab legs with Thig and we might have a solid chance. I should know more after his visit.
